Proteas fall short in pulsating 2nd T20I as England level series

Cape Town – England have won the second T20 International against the Proteas, beating the home side by 2 runs in another pulsating encounter to level the series 1-1.

Set 205 to win, the Proteas started well with Quinton de Kock blasting his way to 65 off just 22 balls.

Once he fell, however, the rate continue to climb and brilliant bowling at the death by Chris Jordan (2/31) saw the visitors home despite some late innings heroics by Rassie van der Dussen (43 off 26).

England’s innings was setup by a brisk 52 run partnership by Jason Roy (40 off 29 balls) and Johnny Bairstow (35 off 17 balls) for the second wicket. 

They were supported by Ben Stokes (47 off 30 balls) and Moeen Ali who smashed 37 off just 11 balls. 

Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the Proteas bowlers, ending with 3/48 off his 4 overs. 

The series is now level at 1-1 with the final T20 at Centurion on Sunday now a decider.
